Share the link. Keep the destination private.

Add a password to any short link. Visitors see a password page first, and only the people you told get through to the destination. Included on every plan (yes, Free too), with the same analytics as any QCK link.

What people put behind a password

Client previews

Share a staging site, design proof, or unlisted video with a client, without making the URL guessable or public.

Private downloads

Hand out one short link for a file or resource, and gate it with a password you share separately.

Members-only content

Give a community, class, or newsletter segment its own password. The link can be public, the destination isn't.

Built like account security, not a curtain

  • Argon2id hashing. The password is never stored, only a hash, using the same algorithm class trusted for user accounts.
  • Rate-limited attempts. Repeated wrong guesses from the same visitor are throttled, so passwords can't be brute-forced.
  • Hidden destination. The target URL is never exposed on the password page. Visitors learn it only after unlocking.
  • Full analytics. Protected links get the same real-time click analytics as every other QCK link.

One honest note: a link password gates the redirect, not the destination itself. For truly sensitive content, protect the destination too.

Common questions

What is a password protected short link?

A short link that asks visitors for a password before redirecting. Anyone can receive the link, but only people who know the password reach the destination.

What do visitors see?

A simple password page on the short link. Enter the right password and the redirect happens immediately. The destination URL stays hidden until then.

Can someone brute-force the password?

Unlock attempts are rate-limited per visitor, and passwords are stored as Argon2id hashes, the same class of hashing used for account passwords. We never store the password itself.

Can I combine a password with an expiration date?

Yes. A link can require a password and stop working after a date you set. Useful for sharing something private for a limited time.

Can I add or remove the password later?

Yes. Edit the link to add, change, or remove the password at any time. The short URL you already shared stays the same.

Is password protection a paid feature?

No. Password protection is included on every plan, including Free.

Protect your next private link

Pair a password with an expiration date for time-boxed sharing, or put it on a branded domain so the link looks like you.
